How funny life is…

30 year old singer and current host of UK’s X-Factor Kelly Rowland, who has been raised a good amount of her life by her BFF Beyonce‘s parents Mathew & Tina Knowles has now surely heard news of her 65 year old estranged biological father Christopher Lovett wanting to become a part of her life again. I think one of my favorite mottos would be good advice for Miss Kelly right about now, and that is: “Forgive, but don’t forget.”

In a recent interview with , Kelly’s father Christopher said:

“It wasn’t physical between me and Kelly’s mum, but there were many days and nights when Kelly would be bawling her eyes out, clutching my leg begging me, ‘Please daddy stop shouting at mummy’.  That image of her howling, begging me to stop will haunt me forever.

I really hoped I would get to make it up to her.  Sadly I am still waiting for that day.  But I can’t give up hope.  That’s why there is a room in my house which I have decorated especially for Kelly, just in case she comes through the front door.”

For some reason, I don’t think he should hold his breath.

How ironic it is when we hear stories of celebrity family members and old friends who treated these people wrongly until it’s discovered someone is on a “Come Up.” It’s easy for me to question the sincerity in such folks, and although it’s good to give loved ones who have wronged us second chances, we should also protect ourselves and our own feelings from getting hurt a second, third, or forth time. Whatever Ms. Rowland chooses to do about her father, I wish her all the best.
