A Lot of people believe in the expression of “Spare the rod, spoil the child”, sometimes using it’s mention in the Bible as excuse of why it’s okay to lay their hands on their children…

But did mega pastor Creflo Dollar really take it to a whole new level by forgetting about the rod for discipline and instead using his hands to choke and punch his 15 year daughter Lauren?

After the pastor’s weekend arrest by Fayette County police for allegedly assaulting his child over a dispute over a party, nationwide discussions have arose asking what actually are the limits one should go to in physically disciplining minor children. Dollar, for the record, is denying he actually did anything wrong and is currently out on $5,000 bail.

Although being arrested in the wee hours of this past Friday, he still made it to church and received a standing ovation when he returned to the pulpit on Sunday morning. He mentioned to his 30,000+ congregation that

“I want you all to hear personally from me that all is well in the Dollar household” before moving on to his sermon at World Changers Church International in Atlanta, Georgia.

Physical evidence of superficial bruising to his Lauren’s neck seemed to collaborate the story she told police after calling 911 and that another one of his 19 year old daughters first confirmed, yet Creflo told Fox 5 News that “As a father I love my children and I always have their best interests at heart at all times, and I would never use my hand to ever use bodily harm to my children.”

The 19 year old witness seemed to give conflicting stories, being interviewed in front of her parents at the time, first saying that she saw her father slap Lauren in the face, choke her, and throw her on the floor. Was it fear, or just standing up for her sister that could lead this young lady to either exaggerate or hold back? Creflo’s defense as he spoke to his members was that “The truth is she was not choked, she was not punched. There were not any scratches on her neck,” Dollar said. “But the only thing on her neck was a prior skin abrasion from eczema. Anything else is exaggeration and sensationalism.”

What do you guys think? Certainly his flock is standing behind him, and I can understand how if you have a “fast” teenager, they can get the best of you and make you angry… but there is a very thin line between discipline and straight up abuse. Now i’m not saying what he did was right, but I can understand, lol.

In the end it will perhaps not be not our opinions, but the judges in what happened that night in the Dollar household, and he could potentially go back to jail although my bet is on everything eventually getting dropped.
