I still remember a few years back when Solange Knowles chopped all of her permed hair off… It was around the same time I had first did the big chop. Since then Ive kept cropped while her locks have grown tremendously. You can check out her progress in this new promotional advertisement for a new transitioning website started by Carol’s Daughter, a hair care company in which Solange is also a spokeswoman for. They want to encorage more black women to go natural when it comes to their hair.

I really wasn’t feeling this video, it won’t make me anticipate on needles for the site to launch but… it’s a start.

Like other natural hair care sites, this one called transitioningmovement.com will offer hair care tips, videos and of course recommendations of Carol’s Daughter products on the website for those interested in ridding themselves of the weaves and the creamy crack.

What do you think about the clip?? Are you natural or transitioning? Holler at me about it after the break… Read the rest of this entry

Hve any of you guys taken notice of this ad?? I first caught wind of this by fellow bloggers Miss Jia and then Sandra Rose who made aware the obvious ethnic insensitivity in a Nivea marketing campaign for facial body shave.

If you take a look at the above photo, you will notice a clean shaven black man with a close haircut and western style of dress. Check out what he is “tossing away”… His old former self which has an afro, beard and a mustashe. This suggestion is meant to take on the idea that this look is unkempt. The ad also bluntly states: “Look Like You Give A Damn.”

I can already imagine what some people who won’t find this offensive will say in defense: Look at the caveman advertisements, this is only perhaps a “black version.” But, What do you think?

Miss Jia mentioned that this has basically took a life of it’s own on Twitter, where folks are understandably upset over the ads. Are people reading too much into them or is this how people actually see those who choose to rock natural hair or not go with the norm?

And, This ad is for facial shave, so why wasn’t the hair left alone??

Jill Scott Talks Being “D*ckmatized”

Jill Scott recently did an interview with Sister 2 Sister Magazine, and spoke about a subject that might have been taboo in the past to even bring up with anyone besides your girlfriends… The subject of being hypmotized by the good sex of a man.

Been There, Done That.  This is what Jill had to say:

What exactly does it mean to be D*ckmatized…

“Where you get caught up in the whole sexuality of your relationship but it’s not going anywhere… Just somebody giving you the goods but not necessarily giving you the rest—or not expecting the rest from them,”

Her idea on the  reality of strictly sexual relationships…

“What I’ve discovered is, although it may be a lot of fun, it is also a waste of time and you might be blocking your blessing—blocking somebody who wants to be more to you than just a great time in your life,”

On how she broke this cycle…

Just realizing what I have to offer. I’m so much more than my flesh!

So Have you ever been D*ckmatized? I know I have, smh… Your thoughts after the break! Read the rest of this entry

Beyonce does the darn thing as she supports First Lady Michelle Obama in the Move your Body campaign, which was designed to inspire children to work out, play hard, eat healthy and fight obesity.

I just have a little bit more respect for Bey as I noticed how she worked those dance moves while in those heels…. She was killin’ them!  The kids were cute as well and did a great job… I enjoyed the video a lot.  hearing this song will atleast give me some motivation to get out of bed in the morning when I have to work! lol…

Check out the video and tell me how you like it after the break! :) Read the rest of this entry
