Solange just is my favorite fashionista nowadays, the girl just cannot do any wrong. I love her hair, style, and attitude about life as well. She radiates being down to earth woman a lot more than her big sister Beyonce as well.

So, this young lady has been doing a ton of fashion photo shoots lately, including this one which was taken for InStyle magazine‘s June 2013 issue.

Next Thursday, May 30th from 7-9pm Tameka Raymond is extending an invite to Atlantans to come out for shopping, slides, drinks and fun at the fundraiser benefit for Kile’s World Foundation. The event will take place at NoCa Restaurant (1170 Canton Street) and Estella Home (1158 Canton Street) in Roswell, Georgia. All proceeds from the Estella Clearance Sale will go directly to the Foundation. Kids are invited as well to bounce and slide – courtesy of Kangazoom. Also performing is Atlanta’s premiere live music group the Jukebox Band with lead vocalist Quinn.  

In the summer of 2012, Kile Glover was only 11-years-old when a tragic jet-ski accident on Atlanta’s Lake Lanier ended his short life. Holding the memory of her beloved late son close to her heart, celebrity stylist and philanthropist Tameka Raymond set out to channel her grief into a project that would both honor his effervescent spirit and reflect his deep love of the performing arts. Staying true to its mission statement, “Gifting children with endless possibilities of creative endeavor through applied, fine and performing arts,” the goal of Kile’s World is to ensure that children have a nurturing environment where inquisitiveness is encouraged, knowledge is shared and freedom to hone their crafts is assured.

The Kile’s World Foundation will offer art-based camps to children aged 10-17 years old, with multiple workshops focused on acting, singing, dance, painting, illustration, music production and digital media. And with the help of community mentors, artists and activists, the foundation is poised to eventually open a magnet school with an emphasis on music and the arts.

Blessed with artistic gifts unexpected in one so young, by 11-years-old, Kile had acted in stage plays, wrote, produced and performed his own music. He was also a budding visual artist, throwing himself into abstract art and photography with the same zeal that defined his life. Not only is the Kile’s World Foundation a labor of love, it fulfills a void in a nation where the outlet of artistic expression is being withheld from more children each day. In a recently released study from the U.S. Department of Education, it was revealed that the availability of theater and dance in elementary schools decreased dramatically in the last decade – “from 20 percent 10 years ago to only 4 and 3 percent, respectively, in the 2009-10 school year.” Not only that, the disparities in the availability of art courses in low-poverty vs. high-poverty schools illuminated the fact that affluent students are exposed to enrichment experiences that students in low-income areas are denied.

“Kile is and will always be my muse,” says Raymond of her son. “He inspires me to do great things both artistically and in general to help others. He was a guiding genius.”

All wasn’t an epic fail at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards last night. Squeezed in the program between Nicki Minaj‘s Twerk fest/Lap dance for rapper Lil Wayne, Miquel‘s impromptu WWE tryout performance, and Justin Bieber being booed while accepting an award (who would have thought that?), there were some real artists being recognized during the program. One, being Prince.

Talk about hilarity…

R&B Singer Miguel performed his new song “Thrill” at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards that aired last night, and decided to stage dive into the fan pit which was near the front of the arena. That bright idea went horribly wrong, check out the photo above.

And just in case you’re wondering, Yes, Miguel got up and brushed the mistake off, continuing to sing as if nothing ever happened.  As for one of the girls that were hit, they were reported as to having a concussion.  It could have been worse, just watch the clip after the break.

The summer action movie fiasco is just around the corner, and first up giving a sneek peek is a new film coming out on June 28th called “White House Down.”  It stars Django actor Jamie Foxx as the President of the United States, and Canning Tatum as a cop that jumps into protective mode after DC is attacked by paramilitary invaders.  James Woods and Maggie Gyenhaal also co-star in the movie.

The trailer looks super exciting to me! Now I have to add it to my list to see along with the new Superman and Star Trek films.  Anyway, Check the clip out for yourself after the jump

Well… I, like some of you out there may have been listening to reruns of the Michael Baisden show all week long. Tomorrow is the last day you will hear anything of this man on the radio, until God know’s when. If your not up with checking the social media sites then you probably haven’t even heard why.

Last week on his facebook page, the popular radio personality posted that his show would no longer be on the air after March 29th. Read his statement after the break.

This is the last week of The Michael Baisden Show! You will hear “Best Of Show Re-Runs” until the show goes off the air on Friday March 29th.

Last Wednesday my staff was denied access to the studio by our syndication partner Cumulus Media. We were not allowed to say goodbye after 10 years of fighting for and serving our people.

To the owners of Cumulus Media, I want to say, Karma is real! What you put out into the universe ALWAYS comes back! Time will tell who has the brighter vision.

To our advertisers, our affiliates, and most importantly, you our listeners, I want to say thank you for making this the most challenging and the best 10 years of my life. I have grown as a broadcaster, producer, and as a man. George and I will continue to tour and fight for our community until we’re back on the air again…which will be soon!!

I have to admit, I didn’t always like the topics (pimps in the pulpit? lol remember that one?), but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the music, and he and his sidekick George Wilborn sure could make me laugh.  So, I hope the best for them both.  Who knows, not being stuck in a contract might be a good thing.  I know plenty of people who have lost jobs, only to in the end… gain a better opportunity.  Hopefully the same can be said for this man after 10 years on the air.

I’ve heard of wierder things, but…

Come to find out, RHOA’s Porsha Stewart allegedly found out about her husband filing for divorce through gossip blogs, according to her publicist’s  statement and a unnamed source who spoke with US Weekly.

On March 22nd, when Kordell Stewart filed for divorce, the news spread quickly to those associated with the media and on the internet. This sad update on her own life supposedly “blindsided” Porsha, as she thought that they were still working on their relationship together.

“She was 100 percent completely blindsided. Friends are trying to contact her but she’s not picking up her phone or returning texts” the US Weekly source is quoted as saying.

I kind of believe her.  I can’t put my finger on it, but she seems like the sort of person who would ignore all the warning signs a person could get until it slapped her in the face.  Anyhow, Porsha later came out with her own statement via her publicist, stating that:

“Mrs. Stewart had held off on filing for a divorce herself and remained committed to the marriage because Mr. Stewart promised to work on the marriage with her,” the rep said. “Instead, he misled her and she found out about the filing in the media. Mrs. Stewart hopes to resolve these personal issues privately with the support of her family, friends and strong faith.”

Well this is too bad, but it’s life. Everything isn’t meant to last forever. I think it’s just messed up whenever anyone has to learn of something like this, in this way. And trust me guys, I KNOW. But, I’m sure that Porsha now will have the time to look into her self and finally find out what she wants to do to uplift her own life instead of trying to find out what she can do to uplift that man’s.

So here is some new music from rapper Ludacris, featuring Kelly Rowland.  It’s called, “Representin” and it comes off of Ludaversal which is the rappers 8th studio album.  In the featured video for the song, I love Kelly’s look – it’s obvious that she is such a pretty young lady.

The music on the other hand was just OKAY in my opinion… but, you let me know what you think after checking out the clip after the jump.

As I’m sure all you guys may have heard and seen, October 2012 Superstorm and Hurricane Sandy gave the east coast of the United States a brutal beating yesterday. Prayers and well wishes go out to all those who were somehow affected by the storm from NoirGossip.com.  According to CNN, I’ve heard that atleast 16 people were killed and there are over 7 million without electricity right now. Sandy was definitely an epic storm that will not easily be forgotten by Americans.

Check out this crazy video:     A young African American male who has absolutely NO respect for adults, elders and authority.  Where is the bus driving uppercut giving man when you need him?  And what’s even more troubling, are the two young ladies who did nothing but giggle at the whole situation.  Where is the respect?  I guess it flew right out of the window!

This just makes me realize… Do you 70′s and 80′s babies remember the big crack epidemic of the 90′s?  On magazine covers and nightly news segments, we would forever be reminded and traumatized with the faces of drug addicted black mothers giving birth to premature infants going through withdrawl even before they were a day old.  Some people said it could be harder for them to live independently in society, with all of the mental and physical disablities that they could wind up developing from the drug use.  Well ya’ll, guess what, the way that these people are acting these days on these streets, makes me assume that these can only be the same crack-babies all grown up now.

What’s happening to african american communities?  Where is the unity that was so prevalent 40 years ago?  Nobody should have to be subjected to loud and obnoxious behavior just because your riding public transportation.  These kids are getting out of control to say the least.  Nonetheless, I think the grown man in the situation took things too far as well.   My grandfather always told me, you can’t win an argument with an idiot.  Instead of being the bigger person, he got dragged into yelling and cursing and ended up just as much as an embarrassment.

Remember the atrocity of the awkward twitter photo of Wyclef Jean in his speedos, posing on his brand new red white & blue Ducati, which I guess was a gift to himself for his 43rd birthday this past October 17th?

All I wanted to know at the time was why was he extremely greasy from the waist up, but then looked as if he hasn’t touched lotion since ’84 from the waist down.  The second thing I was wondering was if that bike was paid for with embezzled money from the Haiti funds he had raised years before… *cough*

It’s simple… MONEY.

When it came down for Jay Z and Beyonce to have a baby, I wonder how soon it came into their minds, the concept of making her name pay off for the both of them.  Think about it, various advertisements, children’s fashion lines, baby furniture, toy dolls, etc all with the Blue Ivy trademark all over them – can we say, cha ching?!   Not only that, but making it all legal would eliminate the possibility of any other person gaining anything out of using their little girls name. It all probably would have been a success, if not for one little thing.

According to the Boston Herald, a Massachusetts company owned by Veronica Alexandra which has been using the name Blue Ivy since 2009 has won the trademark rights after a 9 month wait.  And although it might have seemed a messy situation at the time, Alexandra still has major respect for Blue Ivy’s Carter’s parents and what the unique name has done for her already as well, saying in a statement:

“I can’t be frustrated with something I think is going to bring me to produce and define my brand even more, which is financially exciting in itself and intellectually exciting as well,” she said. “It’s like they caused me to create more opportunity for myself.”

Ever since the YouTube video showing gay Kappa members - Nathaniel Gay and Robert Brown exchanging vows, came out on several blogs earlier this week, all I’ve heard is the spread of controversy wildfire online, on radio AND on TV.  Are we not used to seeing gay men with PDA?  Or is this just an ongoing issue within the black community?  HELLO, This is America…. soooo like it or not, I think you might as well get used to it because unless we adopt the policies of lets say, Iran, I doubt things will be changing anytime soon.

You know what, I thought this particular rapper was FAR better than this… You never know IF and WHEN you will get pulled over and caught up by the police as a celebrity, so why take that chance?

Nelly is probably counting his lucky stars right now after his tour bus was pulled over by Border Patrol Police in Sierra Blanca, Texas last night.

According to TMZ, during the search of the tour bus, 10+ pounds of marajuina, some heroin (36 baggies/.64 ounces), and a loaded .45 pistol was discovered after a police dog first gave the alert of possible drugs.

According to law enforcement sources, one of the passengers — a guy named Brian Keith Jones — admitted the drugs and the gun were his. He was subsequently placed under arrest.

Nelly and the remaining five were let go. Calls to Nelly’s reps were not returned.
