Is anyone out there is breathing a sigh of relief??

Amy Winehouse, british singer and well known addict wasn’t on illegal drugs when she passed away last month, but she did have alcohol in her system.

The key word is illegal.

Amy’s family released this statement to Reuters:

“Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death. Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.”

Pops Mitch Winehouse had already been preaching that he didn’t believe daddy’s girl had succumbed to a drug overdose, so I have to give him props as at least someone had a little faith in her sobriety.

So, what did she die of?  Your thoughts?

27 year old British singing sensation Amy Winehouse was tragically found dead earlier today in her London apartment. Sadly, when I first heard this news, I automatically thought it my head that it very well will end up drug related. My heart goes out to her loved ones, as well to anyone else who has family or friends who are struggling with addictions. It’s hard.

Amy was an extremely talented woman with a distinctive voice, who will never find out what could have been in scope of her music.  She will be missed by millions of fans.

Amy Winehouse was found dead in her apartment in London today … TMZ has confirmed.

A press release from the Metropolitan Police, which doesn’t specifically name Winehouse, says:

“Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.

On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.”

Last month, Winehouse canceled her European tour after a performance in Serbia where she seemed completely out of it.

Oddly, Amy will be joining the list of the Forever 27 club.  More notiable and talented names who died at this ripe, young age are Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kirk Colbain and Jim Morrison.
